Peter Kay: The Tour That Doesn't Tour Tour

Peter Kay has apparently not done a tour in about seven years; being more present on TV through his charity singles, his work with Paddy McGuinness and that quite fun spoof on reality TV shows. I have, however, watched the DVD of his last tour a stupid amount of times and so was really excited to see this tour, not to mention the fact that we saw him in Birmingham on my final day at school (16th June).

This is only the second time I've seen a solo comedian live, and whereas Chris Addison's show was a more satire-packed show, Kay specialises in more observational, everyday happenings. His show was also a lot
bigger in that it was at the LG Arena (the venue formerly known as the NEC, where I saw Arcade Fire back in October) and the concert even included fireworks and dry ice.

Of course, the most important thing is the jokes and they come thick and fast. Most memorable are his misheard lyrics portion, the whole hilarious (and very true) section about Sky Plus and the general interactions between Kay and his family. He also really cleverly works in references to his previous shows (Garlic Bread?!) and his own 'growth' so to speak, to quote Kay, he now has a 'veranda over the toy shop'.

The tour has already been filmed and as you probably won't be able to catch tickets to the rest of the dates (according to his website they're all sold out), I'd recommend picking it up. It's hilarious, I laughed so hard that my mascara/eyeliner gave me serious panda eyes, and proves why Kay is so popular with so many people.
